Malindi, in Kenya, è una nota meta turistica per chi cerca spiagge incontaminate e la natura selvaggia dell’Africa. La condizione della popolazione locale, tuttavia, versa in condizioni drammatiche, con un alto tasso di mortalità infantile e di analfabetismo. Mentre la piaga dell’AIDS miete vittime ogni giorno, il diritto all’istruzione è spesso un miraggio.

L’Ordine dei Ministri degli Infermi (Camilliani), da sempre fedele alla sua vocazione di assistenza ai più poveri e sofferenti, ha avviato, nel corso degli anni, moltissime missioni nelle zone di emergenza in tutto il mondo, fondando ospedali e centri di assistenza, provvedendo anche ai bisogni e alle cure primarie.

Proprio a Malindi la Provincia Camilliana Romana, seguendo lo spirito del Padre Fondatore e per celebrare degnamente il IV Centenario della morte di San Camillo de Lellis, ha dato vita a una missione affiancando la “Fratel Domenico Nursery & Primary Schools” di Watamu con un attrezzato ambulatorio intitolato al Servo di Dio Nicola D’Onofrio, giovane studente camilliano, del quale è in corso il “Processo di Canonizzazione”.

Istruzione dei bambini, cura e prevenzione dell’HIV e di altre malattie sono gli obiettivi fondamentali della missione di Malindi e di tutte le altre sul territorio africano. Promotore fervente dell’iniziativa è P. Giovanni Aquaro, al quale è stato affidato il Coordinamento del “Comitato della Provincia”.

Just in Malindi, the Camillian Roman Province, in the spirit of the Founding Father and to celebrate the Fourth Centenary of the death of St. Camillus de Lellis, has given birth to a mission alongside the “Brother Domenico Nursery & Primary Schools” of Watamu with an equipped clinic dedicated to the Servant of God Nicola D’Onofrio, a young Camillian student, which is currently the “Process of Canonization.”

Children’s education, treatment and prevention of HIV and other diseases are the basic objectives of the mission of Malindi and all the others on the African territory. Während die Seuche Aids täglich ihre Opfer fordert, ist das Recht auf Bildung eher noch ein Zukunftstraum.

Der Orden der Diener der Kranken (Kamillianer) hat in ständiger Treue zu seiner Berufung den Ärmsten und Leidenden beizustehen, in den vergangenen Jahren durch die Gründung von Spitälern und Betreuungszentren viele Missionen in Notstandsgebieten auf der ganzen Welt eröffnet. Auf diese Weise kam man den Nöten entgegen und leistete eine medizinische Grundversorgung.

Deshalb hat die Römische Provinz der Kamillianer gerade in Malindi eine Mission errichtet – in der Treue zum Geist ihres Gründers und um würdig das Vierhundertjahrjubiläum des Todes des heiligen Kamillus von Lellis zu feiern. Der Einrichtung „Fratel Domenico Nursery & Primary Schools“ von Watamu erhielt ein komplett eingerichtetes Ambulatorium, das nach dem Diener Gottes Nicola D’Onofrio, dem jungen kamillianischen Studenten, für den gegenwärtig das Seligsprechungsverfahren läuft, benannt ist.

Der Unterricht der Kinder, die Behandlung und Vorbeugung von Aids und von anderen Krankheiten, sind die wesentlichen Ziele der Mission in Malindi und im übrigen Afrika. Rühriger Initiator dieser Initiative ist P. Giovanni Aquaro, dem auch die Koordination im entsprechenden „Provinz-Komitee“ anvertraut wurde.

L’Ordre des Serviteurs des Malades (Camilliens), fidèle depuis toujours à sa vocation d’assistance aux plus pauvres et aux souffrants, au cours des années, a engagé de très nombreuses missions dans les zones d’urgence, dans le monde entier, ouvrant des hôpitaux et des centres d’assistance, subvenant aux besoins et aux premiers soins.
Particulièrement à Malindi, la Province Camillienne Romaine, dans l’esprit de notre Père Fondateur et pour fêter dignement le IVe Centenaire de la mort de saint Camille, a fondé une mission soutenant la “Fratel Domenica Nursery & Primary Schools” de Watamu, avec un ambulatoire équipé, portant le nom du Serviteur de Dieu, Nicolas D’Onofrio, jeune étudiant camillien, dont le « Procès de Canonisation » est en cours.

L’instruction des enfants, le soin et la prévention du HIV et d’autres maladies sont les objectifs fondamentaux de la Mission de Malindi, et des autres missions sur tout le territoire africain. Le Père Gionanni Aquaro est un fervent promoteur de l’initiative. La coordination du « Comité de la Province » lui a été confiée.
